Optinet's owner-managers, Jeanne Hurlbert and John Beggs, are the country's leading experts on the role social networks play in disaster preparation, response, and recovery. Jeanne Hurlbert earned her BA in sociology from the College of William and Mary, her MA and PhD from the University of North Carolina. John Beggs holds a BA in Economics from Georgetown University, and MA and PhD degrees in sociology from the University of Illinois at Chicago. They have held faculty positions at Louisiana State University for two decades and are affiliates of the LSU Hurricane Center. Their research on social networks and disasters, which has been funded by such agencies as the National Science Foundation, the Louisiana Office of Emergency Preparedness, and the Louisiana Health Excellence Fund, has been published in top academic journals. They're now putting that expertise to work helping businesses ensure that their personnel's social networks are ready for the worst-that they have Readinets.

Charles F. D'Agostino holds a BS in Chemistry and an MBA from Louisiana State University (LSU). He has been active in economic development as a practitioner and consultant for over 30 years. Since founding the Louisiana Business and Technology Center (LBTC, LSU's small business incubator), D'Agostino has served as its executive director. D'Agostino gained invaluable experience helping companies recover from Hurricane Katrina, working with over 1,000 impacted businesses in developing business plans and marketing plans to help impacted businesses recover.

Russell J., "Joey" Coco, a licensed professional engineer (Louisiana), holds a BS in Civil Engineering and an MBA from Louisiana State University. He offers experience in designing bridges, buildings, water resource structures, shallow and deep pile and drilled shaft foundations, and in Forensic Engineering to determine the cause of damage by hurricanes for buildings and bridge structures. Sam Amaroso, a professional engineer licensed in Louisiana, holds a BS in Civil Engineering from Louisiana State University and is completing his PhD at that institution. He is affiliated with the LSU Hurricane Center. He brings expertise in wind load consulting, wind tunnel testing, and investigation of structural damage from disasters. Joffrey Easley, a licensed professional engineer (Louisiana), offers expertise in infrastructure and transportation structures and experience in the design of such things as bridges, light commercial facilities, deep foundations, and water treatment facilities. Together, they formed the country's first hurricane engineering firm to provide a much-needed service, helping businesses ensure that their businesses can withstand the force of a disaster before it strikes and advising affected businesses on how to decrease their vulnerability to future events.
